Starting Again

Ok so I decided to start blogging. Again. It seems like I’ve said that before. Blogging has always been some thing that I’ve wanted to do but have never really got going with. I’ve tried just blogging about me and my life. But I’ve never found my life that interesting and I never found much in my life that was worth blogging about. Then I tried I themed blog, somewhere I would rant about something that I thought about recently along a theme. I decided to “take the high road” and do something that well I could be proud about. I went with Christianity and promptly found out that I didn’t know what I was talking about and didn’t care enough find out (not that I don’t care about God or any thing just that I don’t care to get all the little details).

So what now? What have I learned? Well I think that If this blog is going to be successful I need a few things:

  1. I need some sort of guidelines. Just going for it won’t work
  2. The topic has to be something that I know about already.
  3. I have to care about the topic enough to keep up to date on.

Ok so what do I know and care about enough to make this work. Only one thing comes to mind.

Video games.

Only one problem comes to mind. Money. As much as I would love to play ever game that at think would be fun I simply can’t afford to (or have the time). And so a lot of what I’m going to be talking about is going to be free games. Not just flash games but any freely available games. This brings me to a few questions I would like you dear reader to answer.

  1. Can you name one free game that never cost any money and isn’t a flash or facebook game?
  2. Do you recognize the following and can you name a game they have been involved with?
    1. Armor Games
    2. Game in a bottle
    3. Diseased Productions
    4. nerdook
    5. Hero Interactive
  3. And finally do even care about free games?

Edit: I feel that I need to define what I feel is a free game. The player should be able to get a full and complete experience from the game. Many games have micro-transaction for additional content and/or features but as long as these aren’t required to get the full experience from the game then I still consider it a free game.

Where are the Lampstands?

I have started to read thru Revelations and have decided to post interested tidbits and thoughts here. The first chapter is mostly a introduction including instructions to send the book to the seven churches. The only interesting part is the seven stars and seven lampstands which are explained in verse 20:

“The mystery of the seven stars that you saw in my right hand and of the seven golden lampstands is this: The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands are the seven churches.”

So a lampstand is a church and a star is an angel or as a footnote says a messenger. Chapter 2 then consists of 4 different intros to different churches each of which can be some up as good job but you need to do this better. The first one has an interesting threat in verse 5

“Remember the height from which you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place.”

Remove your lampstand. Now I think that if can be said that these seven churches aren’t still the lampstands. So what is? I can only think of 5: Lutherans, Protestants, Mormons, and I think there are 2 different times of Catholics. Now I admit that there could be only 5 now or I could be looking at this all wrong or I could have just not thought of someone.

I will leave you with the intro to Smyrna, which I believe pertains to America:

“These are the words of him who is the First and the Last, who died and came to life again. 9I know your afflictions and your poverty—yet you are rich! I know the slander of those who say they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan. 10Do not be afraid of what you are about to suffer. I tell you, the devil will put some of you in prison to test you, and you will suffer persecution for ten days. Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you the crown of life. 11He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. He who overcomes will not be hurt at all by the second death.”

Your thoughts are welcome.
